BYOB – pop up openings will occur throughout the site [Biennale Park and Waterfront promenade]. Meet the creative minds behind the biennale, exhibitors, architects, curators, designers, collaborators, who will share and discuss their work, have a drink, pick up a coffee on the waterfront or BYOBui [杯].

Events include:

– invites you to participate and tell us where you are from by Neighborhooding.net : Gene Miao and Frederick Wong. These designers mark and survey participants that enter into the biennale park. As the exhibition progresses the exhibit take on the imprints of the visitors who have participated in its creation. Their work counts on the publics’ participation to create diverse, lively communities.

– A Slice of Public Space by Jody Marie Bielun and Pablo Leppe has invited “Start From Zero” founded by a Hong Kong local street artist – Dom. START stands for STreet ART, STencil ART and STicker ART. In Hong Kong and Shenzhen, where space is at a premium, where do we find a place for public space? “Hole in the Wall” cuts a ribbon of space into a vertical wall and asks street artist to paint and create BYOB on the blank white billboard space as a performative act- this project will evolve over the three months. Dom has created a piece, and another artist this Saturday named Big Mad will create the letters BYOB.

- Douglas will host event- where a butler will serves scones and tea at the roof of the installation.

- Gold Mountain featuring DJ Anand. Music Video commissioned for the 2009 Hong Kong and Shenzhen Biennale B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Beat) – Director: Michele Orlando, Siren Films Ltd. The video will be projected in the Shigeru Ban pavilion shelter.

-POP UP – BYOB EVENT PARTY on the waterfront zone…..where BLACK TEES [O80] and OpenEnded Group’s PEDESTRIAN [C26] will be unveiled.

“Mock-ups in Close-Up” is a video compilation of found footage from over eight decades of film history, consisting only of scenes (or just single shots) showing architectural models. Since the compiling filmmakers continue to include any mock-up scene from any fictional film they can get hold of, the compilation keeps getting longer; presently it comprises clips from roughly 110 different films originally released between 1927 and 2009. This archive of cinematic mock-ups is non-exclusive: it contains obvious classics from the field of architectural cinema, such as “The Fountainhead” (1948) or “The Belly of an Architect” (1987), but for the largest part, it consists of films that do not primarily deal with architects and their planning practices. And yet, these films – ranging from German crime drama to Hollywood horror, from James Bond to X-Men, from Fritz Lang and Sergio Leone to Tim Burton, Ben Stiller and Jia Zhangke – show physical models: mock-ups pop up in the image for some dramatic, symbolic or humoristic purpose, sometimes for no discernible purpose at all.
Before the screening, Gabu Heindl and Drehli Robnik will briefly introduce the video compilation and its concept; there will be opportunity to discuss “Mock-ups in Close-up” with them after the screening.

Mock-ups in Close-Up集合了80年電影歷史以來的錄影片段，當中只包括建築模型場景的片段。現時，作品輯錄1927至2008年110套不同種類的電影。當然，資料庫載有建築的經典電影，如1948年的 The Fountainhead，但大部分的電影均不涉及建築師的規劃設計。不過資料庫內的電影，從德國偵探劇集至變種特攻，從沙治奧李安納至賈樟柯，都因為戲劇性或象徵性的緣故展示模型，但有時也可能並無特別目的。
播映之前，Gabu Heindl 及 Drehli Robnik 將簡略介紹這影像收集以及它的概念。觀賞電影以後，觀眾將有機會與他們深入探討“Mock-ups in Close-up”。
