Forest Project seeks to establish a self-sustaining system that links art lovers in developed countries with local communities in developing countries. Proceeds from developed countries in this system will be used for tree-planting purposes in the developing countries. The two worlds are linked symbiotically through online auctions of artwork created by students from primary schools. This time around, a tree-planting event in Hong Kong will be included as part of the project. The project hopes to increase environmental awareness through the different expressions in art form.

徐冰《木•林•森》計劃，是一個為地球恢復森林集資的自循環系統。這個系統將部分資金從相對富裕的地區不斷流到貧困的地區，為種樹所用。此次的計劃包括在香港種植樹木。 徐冰《木•林•森》計劃緣起于由美國聖地亞哥當代美術館，伯克利大學美術館及太平洋影片庫與國際資源保護機構 Rare(稀有）共同策劃的“人類/自然”項目。此項目邀請八位藝術家，分別深入到八個世界文化遺產保護地，用藝術的方式提高當地人對環境的保護意識。徐冰選擇了肯尼亞。

XU Bing was born in Chongqing, China. Currently resides and works in New York City. He received his bachelor degree in the printmaking department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, where he stayed on as an instructor, earning his MFA and currently serving as the Vice President. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at major museums and art institutions throughout the world, and have won countless prizes and awards including the MacArthur Fellowship in 1999 in recognition of his capacity to contribute importantly to society, particularly in printmaking and calligraphy.

徐冰 (1955-)重慶人。 1977年考入中央美術學院版畫系，1981年畢業留校任教，1987年獲中央美術學院碩士學位。 1990年接受美國威斯康辛大學的邀請，做為榮譽藝術家移居美國。曾在美國華盛頓沙可樂國家美術館、紐約新美術館、布朗士美術館、西班牙米羅基金會美術館、捷克國家博物館等重要藝術機構舉辦個人藝術展。曾被邀請參加英國、法國、加拿大、日本、澳大利亞、芬蘭、意大利、德國、韓國等國的重要聯展。2008年回到北京，擔任中央美術學院副院長職務。
